The culture of lawlessness and impunity that has increasingly crept its way into every facet of national life is at the root of the wanton killings of innocent Nigerians that has recently been the order of the day.
Hon. Gbolahan Olusegun Yishawu member representing Eti-Osa constituency 02 in the Lagos State House of Assembly was speaking on the murder of the students of Federal Polytechnic Mubi by some assailants and the lynching of 4 students of the University of Port Harcourt.
Hon. Yishawu condemned the spate of killings and enjoined the Federal Government to rise to its responsibilities of providing law and order and ensuring the security and safety of all Nigerians. He decried the wanton disregard for the sanctity of human life, describing the circumstances under which these students lost their lives as horrific and barbaric.
Hon Yishawu said that most Nigerians have lost faith in the ability of the system to deliver and guarantee justice for the people. He, however, called Nigerians to embrace law and order at all times and eschew violence as the rule of law remains the only foundation upon which a virile democracy and a fit and proper society can survive.
He commiserated with the families of the victims of these horrendous crimes and prayed that God Almighty will give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
