The Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Science and Technology in the Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Gbolahan Olusegun Yishawu representing Eti-Osa Constituency 02 has stated that the state House of Assembly would continue to share views with the public before passing a law in order to meet the yearning and aspiration of the people.
Hon Yishawu was representing the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King as presiding officer at the Public Hearing on a bill for a law to repeal and re-enact the state polytechnics law and also a law to re-establish the state scholarship board.
Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Kolawole Taiwo who stood in for the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, stated that the House was considering some laws which are obsolete with a view of meeting modern standards.
He noted that there is a need to review the two laws because the state is becoming more dynamic and stakeholder’s participation is essential in the passage of the law.
Reviewing the State Polytechnic law, Hon. Ajibayo Adeyeye, leader of the House, said that the proposed law will include establishment of the Polytechnic, Powers of the Polytechnic, composition of the council, establishment of the Governing Board, Tenure of office, removal of members, principal officers of the polytechnic among others.
