LAGOS COMMISSIONS E-LIBRARY CENTRE

“Education is not limited to the ability to read or write English and understand mathematics but the level of attainment of its information Technology deployment.”

These were the words of Honourable Gbolahan Olusegun Yishawu, member representing Eti-Osa constituency 02 at the Lagos State House of Assembly at the commissioning of the state-of-the-art e-Learning center at the old Lagos Central Library, Odunlami street in Lagos.

Hon. Yishawu explained that the state government has taken the right step in the right direction with this laudable innovation. He urged the government to ensure that this center is sited in all the senatorial districts and possibly all the local government and council development area.
The e-Learning center was redeveloped from the old central library at Odunlami street in central Lagos.
Earlier in his speech, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) said that in Lagos State, Information Technology will drive the economy in the immediate and foreseeable future.

Governor Fashola said his administration is setting up e-libraries in every new school just as it putting e-Laboratories in every old school where normal laboratory already exists. In his speech the commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Adebiyi Mabadeje said that in a growing economy such as Lagos, the facility would serve students, teachers, researchers, entrepreneurs and other people in search of knowledge as it would enable the use of various collection of electronic and printed materials provided in a conducive learning environment for users.
