Ramadan 2020: Lawmaker Reiterates Need To Observe Physical and Social Distancing amidst COVID-19

As Muslim faithfuls all around the world enter the holy month of Ramadan, lawmaker at the Lagos Assembly, representing Eti-Osa constituency 02, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu has reiterated the need for his constituents to continue observing physical and social distancing in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Yishawu, in a statement made available by his information office saluted Muslims for the privilege the Almighty God has given them to witness the month of Ramadan.

“Let’s celebrate Ramadan in the safest way possible to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. We must not throw away all preventive measures laid down by our medical experts, most especially physical and social distancing.

“Our governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently stated explicitly, the many reasons we must keep at social distancing at this critical time of fasting. I want appeal to us to follow these guidelines. If we keep to safety measures, we shall be alive by next year Ramadan to pray together in our mosques”, he said.

The lawmaker who is Chairman House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning also said the Holy month should be used to connect to God through worship, reflection, compassion and giving back to others.

“Ramadan is a month to improve on our relationships with our neighbours and Almighty God”.

He therefore wished all Muslims in Lagos, especially his constituents at Eti-osa Constituency 02 Ramadan Mubarak.
