A lawmaker representing Eti-Osa constituency 02 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu has emphasised the need to encourage young people to engage in global issues in order to influence national institutions and processes constructively.
This was contained in a statement made available by his media office on Wednesday in commemoration of the year 2020 International Youth Day.
He said, this year’s IYD theme is “Youth Engagement for global Action”. We need to encourage young people to engage in global issues in order to influence national institutions and processes constructively”.
Yishawu stressed that there is need for youth reorientation to drive their minds positively to how they can impact the country.
While he celebrates with the youth all over the country most especially those in his constituency, he appealed to them to shun every form of violence and terrorism.
Yishawu, who is the Chairman House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning also enjoined the youth to put on their thinking caps and see how they can improve themselves.
Yishawu said the Lagos State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa will continue to make laws that impact the youth in the State positively.
Recall that the theme of International Youth Day 2020, “Youth Engagement for Global Action” seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.
