The “Ounje Eko” market, an initiative introduced by the Lagos State government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has continued to provide affordable foodstuffs to residents across all 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state. In Eti-Osa constituency two, residents have expressed their appreciation to their representative, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, for providing 1,000 free tickets to the market.

UPSHOT correspondent visited the old Nursing school Ground in Ikoyi and Kuramo senior college, Victoria Island, where residents were collecting the free tickets made available by Hon. Yishawu. The residents, who have been enjoying the free tickets since the market started, said it has further reduced their expenses amidst the current economic situation.

Mrs. Tina Okoye, a shopper at Kuramo college, Victoria Island, praised the initiative, saying the 1,000 free ticket would reduce the cost of foodstuffs by an additional 25 percent. She thanked both Governor Sanwo-Olu and Hon. Yishawu for their kind gesture towards the people.

Similarly, Mrs. Roseline Jacob, another shopper, expressed her gratitude, saying the prices of foodstuffs at the market are cheaper, and the free ticket has been a big help. At the old Nursing school Ground in Ikoyi, shoppers braved the rain to buy foodstuffs, with one shopper saying the 25 percent discount and 1,000 free ticket have made a significant difference.

The residents of Eti-Osa constituency two are eagerly looking forward to the free tickets every time the “Ounje Eko” market comes around. The market is expected to continue providing discounted food items to residents of Lagos, easing the burden of high food prices.
